Rag Quilt Technique Day Class Jan 27, 2026

Come learn the techniques of making a rag quilt. They are coming back in popularity and are oh so easy to make. They are a great way to use up your scrap flannel or batting.
| Skill Level: | Beginner |
| Skill Details: | This class is perfect for a beginning sewist. The seaming straight forward. |
| Requirements: | * We are suggesting you try out this technique by making a baby sized throw. If using yardage you will need 1.5 yards of fabric for the top and 1.5 yards for the back. For the filling of the quilt you will need 1.5 yards of flannel OR batting. You can opt to use ten inch squares instead. If you go that route you will need a total of 50 for the top and back and 25 of the batting. For a heavier blanket you can opt for heavy cotton batting OR two layers of flannel for the middle. * Batting Buddy ruler is optional but will make the task of cutting fabric squares and batting to size super easy. The store will work to have enough stock for you. Purchase early to be sure. * Rag scissors are optional but they really make the clipping so much easier. Your hands will thank you if you use these. Like the Batting Buddy, the store will strive to have enough supplies of these for you. * Rotary cutter - 60 mm ideal but can make 45 mm work. Make sure the blade is sharp * sewing machine and usual sewing tools. |
