Point of View Kaleidoscope Folded Star Table Topper
Join Denise as she guides you through this beautiful centerpiece while teaching the basic kaleidoscope. any print will work , but as a guideline for selecting your fabric, be aware that the visible portion of the kaleidoscope motif will be about 4" tall, so you want to choose a small print on your border fabric that will feature that section you want to showcase and it should fit that space. Choose 4 additional fabrics that will be the pints to compliment the kaleidoscope center fabric. Select fabrics with a high contrast between them so they will show up better. There is only a small 3/4" portion of each of these fabrics will be visible. Recommended fabrics are solids, tone-on-tone or very small scale prints. The outmost round of fabrics can be a medium scale print. The goal of this monthly club meeting is for anyone who is working on any of the Posh Seasonal Wall Hanging kitsyy OR who thinks they might want to join in the fun. Jaftex fabric company is putting out a monthly kit that features different well known fabric designers. Thus far the kits have features Kaffe Fasset, Tim Holtz, and Tula Pink. The patterns are filled with curves which are amazingly easy to make once you learn how to use the mini QCR ruler that is required. At the club meetings we will go over techniques of using the curved ruler to cut the pieces and the techniques used to successfully sew the curved pieces. You will be surprised at how easy it is! The class is listed at $25 BUT if you bought the kit from our store we will give you a $15 store credit that can be used toward purchasing the ruler or something else you have your eye on. Pillowcase Stitch-a-thon - Sept 26
Join the fun as we work together to sew as many pillowcases as we can in one day. The cases will ultimately donated to Ryan's Cases of Smiles charity. They give pillowcases to children enduring the trauma of being hospitalized. Every year in the month of September they strive to receive thousands pillowcases in donations.. Last year our store donated over 300 cases thanks to your help. Our target is to beat that number this year. Let's help make that happen! If you are not sure about how to make a pillowcase we have free patterns to share. There are also You Tube Videos on the burrito pillowcase which is easy and quick. You can make them at home and bring them in to donate or join us in the store on the 12th for a community stitch-a-thon for this purpose. Bring your machine and fabrics or use one of our machines.
